REDLINE
People started comparing Edgerunners to the 2009 sci-fi action movie Redline as soon as it came out on Netflix.
It is about Sweet JP, a daredevil street racer with a corkscrew pompadour who is determined to win gold in the Redline Grand Prix, the galaxy's most dangerous race.
The similarities between Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Redline are especially striking during the highway chase scene between David and a pair of Tyger Claw biker assassins in Edgerunner’s third episode "Smooth Criminal." Many viewers made comparisons between David's speed-induced grimace as he weaves dangerously through oncoming traffic and JP's clenched-jaw expression while racing to the finish line at the beginning of Koike's film.
Spriggan
The Netflix anime series Spriggan is an adaptation of the acclaimed 1980s manga series that ran from 1989 to 1996. This anime takes advantage of this new era of anime’s ability to perfectly blend 2D and 3D animation to give us a visual spectacle once believed to be impossible.
