JDM: Japanese Drift Master Blends Classic Racing Vibes with Modern Gameplay

For racing enthusiasts, the influence of classics like Initial D, Akira, and OutRun can still be seen today in street racing culture, especially with the neon aesthetic that remains iconic. These beloved titles have stood the test of time, paving the way for the future of racing games. Now, Polish developer Gaming Factory is combining these legendary vibes into a new, modern racing experience with their upcoming game JDM: Japanese Drift Master.

Set for release on March 26, this highly anticipated title will be available on PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. The announcement was accompanied by a visually striking trailer that gives fans a preview of the game’s stunning design, especially in its residential and cityscape environments. The world of JDM: Japanese Drift Master spans 250km of intricate roads, creating an immersive and bustling open-world experience without falling into the trap of empty, lifeless environments.

The game’s drift car lineup has been fully licensed and includes detailed, customizable vehicles, perfect for any drifting fan. The developers have made sure that even the most passionate Miata fans will find joy in tweaking their rides.

One of the standout features of JDM: Japanese Drift Master is its unique storyline. Rather than following a typical racing narrative, players step into the shoes of a Polish driver determined to make a name for himself in the Japanese drifting scene. The story unfolds in the fictional Guntama province, told through a combination of street events and manga-style panels, making it a beautiful homage to Initial D.

For those eager to get a taste of the game, Gaming Factory released a free prologue, JDM: Rise of the Scorpion, in August of the previous year. Though shorter in scope, this demo serves as a preview of the exciting things to come.
